Taranaki is a region with art located in many public places. Large sculptures, installations and statues make up the collection of outdoor artworks you can discover and admire.
While exploring New Plymouth, take the self-guided trail established by the Art in Public Places Trust, which will lead you to several large works by renowned New Zealand artists such as Dale Copeland, John Reynolds, Michael Parekowhai and Len Lye.
Set out to discover the numerous vibrant and colourful pieces of street art down hidden alleyways, and on central business district buildings all around Taranaki.
Many works were created as part of the ‘Get Up’ Festival [2014/2015] or have been privately commissioned, or organised by some of New Zealand’s leading street artists.
Pop in and chat to Koru Gallery for some helpful hints on discovering where to find these works.
